Why You Should Stop Being Extremely Competitive

2 Mins read

IN BRIEF: Competition is good. As long as it is healthy. In this post we discuss about how being OVER COMPETITIVE affects life.

Competition is one of the primordial instincts which has helped us survive on this planet. As Darwin says Survival of the fittest made competition inevitable. As we evolved and developed into civilizations, the need of competition became less and less.

As Mahatma Gandhi said that the world has enough to satisfy everyone’s need but not their greed. In the 21st century we have fierce competition for even the smallest of the jobs, from innovation to basic jobs we have to be competitive again to survive in this world. That being said, there’s always a limit for everything. This applies for competition also. Being too competitive not only makes us unhappy but also turns to be counterproductive. Are you competitive enough or too competitive? Let’s find out.

Taking Arguments Seriously

You never indulge in an ordinary discussion, everything is a debate with you. You choose to go to any length to prove yourself right. This will not only make you unfriendly but also creates a bad impression on everybody you meet. Here’s a video about how not to argue.

Can’t Enjoy Others Success

You just can’t bear the thought of other people succeeding. May it be your best friend or even your own family. It hurts you and makes you feel inferior. Even though it’s not your field, you can’t digest it.

Feeling Happy When Others Fail

You enjoy other people’s failure and secretly desire it. If someone failed to reach their goals you feel contended. If you succeed when others fail it’s an occasion to throw a party. This may sound a bit a freaky but you are the one who’s suffering ultimately. Question yourself, Why is this upsetting me?

Lose Sight Of Your Goal

As you tend to consider that everyone in your Facebook feed are happy and complacent, you can never get satisfied. This unhealthy competition makes you lose sight of your real goals. See I told you, counterproductive!

Lets say with the above you realised that you’re too competitive, now what? Slowly learn to embrace other people’s success. Start with your family and move forwards. If you have enough knowledge guide them, in this way you can learn from their mistakes. Stop comparing your life with other’s and enjoy what you’ve achieved till now.

“Make your competitive nature as a fuel to go forward not to burn yourself”.
