Selena Gomez Shares About Her Anxiety And Depression During The American Music Awards

Around a year ago, Selena Gomez , the American actress, and singer, had revealed that she is suffering from an illness called Lupus. She shared that Lupus comes with side effects such as panic attacks, anxiety, and depression which makes it even more challenging. Selena had said,

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues”

On the 20th November 2016, American Music Awards event Selena opened up further to her fans saying,

“I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.”

It was during this event that Selena made her first public appearance since taking a career break to focus on her emotional and mental health. An important message from Selena Gomez to her fans was:

“If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken.”

While we all appreciate Selena’s boldness to open up about her condition other artists actively supported her through social media.
