What Is The Smartest Way To Use Laziness To Your Advantage?

“People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.” – Tony Robbins

Lazy people are those who do not carry out certain tasks because of the efforts involved. Instead, they perform other tasks which are less demanding or simply stay idle. The tasks are such that do not seem to provide immediate gratification. The problem arises when lazy people are disinclined to trust a result which is uncertain.

The usual thought is, if it won’t happen, why should I try?

The ancient philosopher Epicurus famously argues that pleasure is the highest good. But he also cautioned that not everything that is pleasurable should be pursued, and not everything that is painful should be avoided. Instead, a kind of hedonistic calculus should be applied to find out what is most likely to result in the greatest pleasure. Also, find out what people are unable to handle.

Karthik Venkatesh, a popular Quora enthusiast shares his positive experience with laziness:

I have a 29 character password for my facebook and twitter. When I have to work, I just log off from these. So, whenever I feel like taking a break and using facebook, I am just too lazy to type my password. Eventually, owing to my laziness, I go back to work and have a really productive day.

‘To do nothing at all,’ said Oscar Wilde, ‘is the most difficult thing in the world, the most difficult and the most intellectual.’
