Introducing A Better You Project

2 Mins read

The COVID-19 outbreak caught us unawares and completely unprepared. Chances are if you had ever suggested to anyone that we would ever witness a pandemic in our lifetimes, you would’ve been laughed at. Yet here we are. Let’s face it, the current situation is distressing, and concrete steps need to be taken to safeguard ourselves from long-lasting trauma.

Research shows that the psychological impact of our present circumstances is going to be significant. We’re bound to experience loneliness, fear, anxiety, family discord, depression, etc. in varying degrees. Before we get on to the coping skills, it’s important that we become well-versed in this impact. You can read more about the same here.

This became particularly clear in the first few weeks of the news of a COVID-19 outbreak when we at YourDOST experienced a sudden influx of clients with complaints specific to Coronavirus.

On further exploration, we found that 65% of Indians are experiencing stress because of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the uncertainty of how long these circumstances will last being the biggest stressor. You can read the entire survey analysis here.

We wanted to do something about this, something more than just offering therapy, some kind of initiative to provide everyone with resources to better understand how this pandemic might be affecting them emotionally, and how they may be able to help themselves as well as those around them.

With this in mind we would like to launch:

A Better You Project

As a part of this project, we’ll be providing you with a plethora of online resources to help you not just get through but sail through these difficult times, and develop your resilience at the same time as well.

Starting immediately, you can start referring to our COVID-19 specific resources repository, and benefit from them. You can bookmark this link for future reference as we would be updating this with a lot of articles, awareness webinars and practice videos and images.

Hang in there friends. This too shall pass and we’ll emerge together from this, stronger, calmer and wiser. Let us take this time to introspect, spend that crucial time with our loved ones, and work on things we have always been procrastinating. It’s easier said than done! But don’t worry, a lot of our resources would tackle this aspect of laziness and procrastination along with stress and anxiety.

So what do you say? Kickstart your journey with us to A Better You today.
