Break Up Couldn’t Hush The Fire Within Sudhanshu

21-year-old Sudhanshu was born and brought up in Nagpur by his grandparents.

Breakups are never easy. But in life, it’s a necessary evil and will ultimately be the clear resolution you’ll see once the storm passes. – Anonymous.

21-year-old Sudhanshu was born and brought up in Nagpur by his grandparents. He was mostly away from his parents as they resided in Patna, Bihar. Although Sudhanshu was an introvert by nature, he was always curious about getting involved in science projects. He was a person who would confine his boundaries with limited friends. After completing his schooling in Nagpur, Sudhanshu went on to pursue his higher education in IIT Delhi in the field of B.tech in Textile Technology.

“At the beginning of my college life, I met a friend who eventually became my girlfriend.”

But as days passed, Sudhanshu had to face a prolonged break up with her which shredded him into pieces. Sudhanshu got intensely attached to the few close people he had due to his introverted nature. But losing his closest person had hit him in an unimaginable way. He suddenly could not focus anymore for a period of 7-8 months straight.

As Sudhanshu was working on the same project as her, he was constantly bothered by the fact that he couldn’t communicate with her. These uncomfortable feelings post his break up was a result of the fact that she never gave him a reason for the same.

“The void of a closure piled on me to such an extent that I tried harming himself a few times.”

The break up resulted in a series of behavioural changes in Sudhanshu. Not only was he devastated, but he had eventually started to blame himself for the separation. He had lost his patience and that led him to burn in rage and anger. He would often lash out in fury and the thoughts followed him to a disrupted sleep cycle.

“I had not slept for 2-3 days because whenever I did, the thoughts about her would haunt me.”

Some days, Sudhansu would be deeply triggered by witnessing her getting close to any other person physically. The world had fallen apart for Sudhanshu because he had left for an entirely different route in this life and it was very difficult to get back on track.

“After my summer holidays ended and the break up had reached its final countdown, I realised that I needed help and I found YourDOST in my college mails.”

Sudhanshu knew that he had set for a wrong direction in life and it was time for him to take control over the steering wheel. With YourDOST, he got in touch with a counselor who introduced him to a very different way of dealing with things. Sudhanshu was suggested to write down a few of his hobbies that he wanted to do and also things that he was grateful for. Not only the positive aspects but for a better introspection, Sudhanshu was advised to jot down the negative thoughts also.

“Although it was not easy initially, I got used to the new habits. Eventually, I started focusing more on my work.”

Sudhanshu had finally swum across to the other end. He had more clarity on his condition and thoughts and he was aligning all his energy and time on his personal aspects. Sudhanshu saw a rapid improvement in his habit of overthinking that wasn’t helping at all. Sudhanshu believes that the counseling journey taught him the way to reach the conclusion by himself.

“I learnt how to reconstruct my thoughts and my approach towards my problems.”

Sudhanshu went through a very tough time with his break up and revamped himself with his own willpower. He describes his improvement by one word – Glowing.

We at YourDOST clearly see this change in him as Sudhanshu rates his counseling journey with a 5 out of 5. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Sudhanshu’s Warrior Tips:
1. Whatever you are feeling is temporary. Time changes and the problems will change too.
2. There should be more awareness about the idea of counseling as that is the place where you can express yourself freely.
