T.W.: Suicidal Thoughts
“Improvement never ends. No one is an alpha from the starting”, is what 22-years-old Faizan believes in as he jumped over a deep ditch through his timeline. The pandemic made it very difficult for many people to concentrate and live their lives normally.
Faizan, who currently works in UpGrad as a Senior Admission Counselor, didn’t have the best of his mental health to handle during that time. Faizan was born and brought up in Delhi and completed his schooling and BBA from Delhi.
“I enjoy watching Netflix, playing games and also believe in putting some time aside for some physical activity.”
With the onset of the pandemic, Faizan was suddenly feeling less confident about himself. With low self-esteem, Faizan had lost his ability to concentrate well on any task throughout the day.
With the lack of social interaction and constant isolation, Faizan was also ending up spending his time overthinking about various possibilities. His mind always ended up asking one common question, “why am I existing?” – The overall loss in mindfulness and focus threw Faizan into an urge of achieving self-improvement.
“I don’t have many friends because I don’t talk to many people. At that time, I was building up an ignorant behaviour and getting angry on small-small things from time to time.”
With the ignorant behaviour, Faizan was also losing interest in anything and everything around him. Neither did he feel curious to know anything nor did he take any initiative to know his whereabouts.
He was also indulging in watching content that would usually be frowned upon. But, by the end of the day, whatever he did, Faizan was disappointed in himself and his activities. This also led him to develop suicidal thoughts.
“My company was associated with YourDOST. However, I came to know about this platform through a search on the internet and decided to give it a go.”
Faizan got in touch with a counselor from YourDOST and poured out his thoughts. The counselor on the other hand advised Faizan to follow certain techniques like writing his thoughts down in a diary.
Apart from journaling, Faizan was also encouraged to start practising meditation as a part of his routine. With soul music also being advised as a part of this process, Faizan had left all equipped on his journey of improvement. Recollecting his thoughts, Faizan had managed to pick himself up from his situation. With a halt in consuming adult content, which was a huge concern, Faizan was able to relax and focus better.
“The counseling journey was nice and my counselor was very helpful. But by the end of the day, I believe that without one’s own efforts, it is quite impossible to mend any pain.”
Faizan described his counseling journey as “fabulous” and rated his overall improvement through counseling with a 3 out of 5. We, at YourDOST, believe that Faizan has come a long way and is truly an inspiration to many out there.
Faizan’s Warrior Tips:
1. People have full freedom of speech and expression. So never hesitate to speak up for yourself.
2. Never trust anyone partially. He/she is always their own saviour.
