How Harsh Healed From His Fallen Relationship Through Therapy

“Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are uncertain. People are irrational.” – Hugh Mackay.

This is the story of 20-years-old Harsh, who is not only a computer geek but also a nature lover. Harsh loves cycling along with walks that aligns with his love for nature. Being a mountain person, Harsh also took the opportunity to experience three treks. Harsh also loves to play volleyball and has a keen eye for the stock market. Belonging to Vadodara, Harsh is currently pursuing his BBA Honours from Ahmedabad.

“My main issue lay in a breaking relationship that was taking over all other aspects of my life.”

Harsh and Rashi (name changed), his ex-partner, were in the same class. Rashi was one of the toppers in the class. Eventually, both decided start a relationship as they were both drawn towards each other. But little did they know that the relationship was going to take a different turn soon. Within a span of 3-4 months, they started noticing complications in their relationship.

“After class 12, she wanted to move abroad. So, without thinking much, I decided to move with her too. So, I started to prepare for IELTS.”

But as the world saw the pandemic enter our lives like a wildfire, so did Harsh and his ex-partner experience at that time. In no time, they were confined into their homes and that ignited a series of issues. Before, Harsh used to travel to Vadodara and meet Rashi.

Harsh was also going through a lot of incompatibilities with Rashi, his partner.

But the pandemic had created a huge barrier on that front too. Harsh was also going through a lot of incompatibilities with Rashi. Whenever Harsh would be around his parents and not able to receive the call, it got harder for Rashi to believe him more and more.

“It was becoming difficult for me to imagine a future with her as the days passed by. The constant fight and doubts made me feel drained out.”

Situations got uglier in their relationship when there was a huge misunderstanding due to the presence of another female friend from Harsh’s end. It altogether made the relationship look impossible to be carried forward. The pandemic brought another bump on Harsh’s road that changed everything. As Harsh’s father was stricken by the Covid-19, he was shaken overall. Soon, Harsh started experiencing anxiety and restlessness. This is when Harsh realised that he needed help,

“You can’t hurt yourself and help somebody. First, it is necessary to heal oneself and then help someone else.”

Harsh got in touch with Ishita Attri, a counselor from YourDOST.

Harsh got in touch with Ishita Attri, a counselor from YourDOST. Ishita on the other hand tried to understand Harsh’s situation completely and then suggested certain techniques. Starting from a few relaxation techniques, Harsh was taken through a couple of exercises to work on himself.

He was also encouraged to maintain a journal and add yoga to his routine. As Harsh describes his counselor as a “good listener” after offering his gratitude to her, he clearly states, “we can’t hold people. People often change.”

“It was remarkable how Ishita knew how to make a person understand their situation well.”

Harsh describes his counseling as “amazing” and rates his overall development through counseling with a 4 out of 5. We, at YourDOST, believe that Harsh has a long way to go and we hope he finds only success and growth on the way.

Harsh’s Warrior Tips:
1. 1. Start talking to an expert, professional or friend. It’s always better to talk out your emotions than to keep them inside.
2. Sometimes one single hand can pull you out of a lot of problems.
