Himanshu Knocks Down Tension Through Therapy

Himanshu Knocks Down Tension Through Therapy.

“Pessimism and optimism are slammed up against each other in my records, the tension between them is where it’s all at, it’s what lights the fire.” – Bruce Springsteen

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) a global pandemic. Research shows that the majority experienced increased stress about finance (79%) and the lockdown (51%).

Born and raised in Orissa, 33-years-old Himanshu is a person who likes to interact with people more than being confined within his own world. Himanshu works as a Senior Software Engineer and resides in his abode of peace with his family. Currently residing in Bangalore, Himanshu’s days were overshadowed by some gloomy days.

“With the pandemic hitting our lives, I feel into a deeply embedded heap of tension. I saw nothing by the end of the tunnel.”

The tension rose from a series of uncertain thoughts in Himanshu’s mind.

The tension rose from a series of uncertain thoughts in Himanshu’s mind. Like many of us, Himanshu was also in a void of social interaction that went against his personality of being a people’s person. Himanshu felt heavily de-focused as he worried about how people would cope with the pandemic. Having a family under his shoulders, Himanshu was also tense about everyone’s wellbeing.

“I was not able to focus on my work. All I could think about was the possible length of this pandemic.”

All the markets were shut and there prevailed an overall social tension for Himanshu. Unable to cope with that situation, Himanshu decided to take a leap of faith. Although he was sceptical about the idea of counseling, Himanshu decided to give it a go.

Himanshu booked an appointment at YourDOST, which was associated with his company. Barely knowing how it would be or how he should answer them, Himanshu started the counseling sessions through chats. The counselor listened to Himanshu carefully and suggested certain techniques. Firstly Himanshu was advised to manage his time in a balanced manner.

Himanshu found his solace through his own yearning to achieve mental peace.

“My task was to balance my personal and professional life efficiently. Moreover, I needed to pay attention to my diet and consume healthy food.”

Himanshu, who once was spending too much time on office work, had begun to spend quality time with his family as well. A counseling session would mean nothing without one’s own efforts to improvise. On this note, Himanshu found his solace through his own yearning to achieve mental peace.

As Himanshu offers his hearty gratitude to his counselor, he also rates his overall journey from tension to peace with a 3.5 out of 5. We, at YourDOST, feel immense pleasure to see Himanshu in a better place today. We wish him luck!

Himanshu’s Warrior Tips:
1. Always felt that opening up is better than bottling up.
2. When you open up about your problems and find the right safe space, it feels good.
