Cat Or Dog: Which Is Your Ideal Pet

2 Mins read

IN BRIEF: If you are wondering to get a pet, this post we help you chose between the two common pets, Cats and Dogs. We breakdown the reasons why petting a cat or a dog makes sense, depending upon what kind of a person you are and what are the qualities you seek for in your about-to-be-pet.

Cat Or Dog: Which Is Your Ideal Pet

The cat vs dog debate is an ever going discussion across the world, one which might never end. Be it a cat or a dog, people do get attached to pets and this attachment is not just one way. Pets also get attached to the owner. Some might prefer cats while others love dogs, but there are certain characteristics which show how different cats and dogs are as pets.

Cats still have their hunting instincts, while owing to their domestication dogs have weaker instinct to hunt.

Dogs are loyal and in most cases protective of their owner. Cats however do not tend to be protective about their owner.

Dogs require full attention throughout the day. They need to be taken out for a walk at least once a day. Cats are lazier than dogs. They can sleep for a whopping 16 hours in a day. Life expectancy of cats is usually 15-25 years while for dogs is 7-20 years.

Cats can live in small apartments and can be left alone since they mainly are independent in nature. However, dogs will be more comfortable in bigger houses or one with with a garden and a playing area.

Cats can be easily trained to use litter box in fewer days. Dogs as puppies need to be trained for at least two weeks.

When it comes to showing affection towards humans, dogs always win with flying colours. Dogs are in general friendlier as compared to cats. However there can be many exceptions here.

Lastly, cats require less maintenance. They need not be bathed or groomed daily. Dogs however are pack animals. You have to walk them, let them in and out and take care of them.

In the end it comes down to one’ s personal choice. If you are looking for an enthusiastic needy and energetic friend, a dog is what you need. But if you want a gentle graceful companion, a cat is your best choice. Cats or dogs, both have their plus and minus points. It’s difficult to compare them as a pet.
