Ashwini Found Herself Without Support One Day. Now, She Is Her Own Support System

3 Mins read

I was dating one of my seniors for around 3-4 years, and we were trying to convince our parents that we wanted to get married. But my parents did not get convinced at all

“At one point, I prayed to God that I want to die.”

Ashwini Sawale, a 27-year-old formulation scientist with a pharmaceutical company, struggled for a long time with emotional instability within herself, due to relationship problems.

“I was dating one of my seniors for around 3-4 years, and we were trying to convince our parents that we wanted to get married. But my parents did not get convinced at all.”

Trying to placate everyone, Ashwini began to feel sandwiched between her parents and her partner. However, life took an unexpected turn. After several failed attempts at trying to get through to her parents, Ashwini’s partner suddenly left her and got married to someone else.

“My parents were really happy about this. They were relieved that my marriage didn’t go through. But this made me so angry at them, and I began to hold a lot of resentment towards them.”

Because of her parents’ reaction, Ashwini began to feel like no one understood her.

Everyone got what they wanted. But for me, I was left with nothing. I was very resentful towards my parents, but I could not go against them because they had raised me for 20+ years, and the person who I wanted to spend the next 40-50 years of my life also left me.

Dejected and depressed, Ashwini found that she had no more motivation to do anything. While she had previously been a very social person, after this incident in her life, she began isolating herself. She would find herself crying almost every day. She also found no joy in her work and began slipping up in her daily tasks.

Unfortunately, Ashwini did not receive any support from her siblings and relatives either. They stopped talking her for having gone against her parents. This is when Ashwini finally decided to seek help from an Expert at YourDOST. Having been connected with YourDOST through her colleague, Ashwini began opening up to her Expert about her problems.

One of the ways in which Ashwini’s Expert was able to help her was by showing her a different perspective on her problems

“My Expert listened very patiently and within just two sessions, she grasped my whole story. She realized that I needed someone better than her, she connected me with another Expert.”

Ashwini’s new Expert was able to give her the guidance that she needed. She helped her gain her confidence back through several self-boosting exercises, and she also began to teach Ashwini certain techniques to forgive her parents.

“My partner had left me and at the end of the day, I had to come back to my parents. But I held so many grudges against them that I was not even able to speak to them. But with the help of my Expert, I slowly began learning to forgive them, and let go of all my resentment.”

One of the ways in which Ashwini’s Expert was able to help her was by showing her a different perspective on her problems.

“Whenever you share your problems with your friends, they will only see your side of things. They will support you of course, but they will not be able to tell you where you are going wrong. But my Expert was a neutral party, and she told me where I was going wrong.”

This is when Ashwini began understanding her parents’ perspective as well. Not only this, but she began rethinking the way she looked at her own broken relationship with her partner.

Working in the health sector, Ashwini believes that mental health is extremely important, and thanks YourDOST from the bottom of her heart for making a big difference in her life.

“My Expert made me realize that my relationship was only 3 or 4 years of my life. Before that, I had been doing my own thing. And I did not want to let those 3 or 4 years ruin the rest of my life.”

Ashwini also began looking at the positive aspects of her life.

“Even though my partner left me, I realized that there were a lot of other people who supported me. And I began to count my blessings every day.”

Gradually, after two months of sessions with her Expert, Ashwini began to feel better again.

“I finally felt like there was a purpose in my life, and that I am a good and unique person. Because of these sessions with my Expert, I would say that I am 80-90% stable now. Whenever I feel low, I remember my conversations with her and feel motivated again”

Working in the health sector, Ashwini believes that mental health is extremely important, and thanks YourDOST from the bottom of her heart for making a big difference in her life.

“As a medical professional, I heal people through medicines. But the Experts at YourDOST heal people spiritually through communication, and that has the potential to make a big difference in people’s lives.”

Ashwini thus encourages people who are undergoing problems to seek help as well.

When you try to seek help for your mental health, people might judge you, and they might gossip about you as well, but ultimately it is your life. And you need to realize that people will not help you unless you ask them to.
