“Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.” – Charles Spurgeon

A writer by passion and an engineer by profession, 22-year-old Shreyansh graduated from Delhi Technical University in the field of B.Tech in Electronics and Communication. Born and raised in Delhi, Shreyansh spent most of his childhood from the age of 4 immersed in theatre and dance as well! This passion didn’t stop here, Shreyansh even participated in many debate competitions in his college, even

Shreyansh has also stood as the president of The Literary and Debating Society in his college.  As years passed, academics took over most of the time, but Shreyansh kept the writer in him alive, by publishing on his personal blog.

“I’m pretty patient at times. But with time, I have realised that It’s also not always a good thing.”

As the Covid-19 pandemic set in, some unforeseen events started causing Shreyansh trouble and with this, some of his conflicts of the past also started resurfacing. What followed next was a series of anxiety issues. As much as the anxiety was bothering Shreyansh, he was also reflecting the same in the form of some behavioural changes.

As much as the anxiety was bothering Shreyansh, he was also reflecting the same in the form of some behavioural changes.

“I was going through a rough patch in my life. I had never experienced so much anxiety or trouble. My appetite also went for a toss.”

Shreyansh’s appetite decreased visibly. He had reached a point where he was going through a train of thoughts in his brain. But Shreyansh was more focused on hiding the same from revealing it in front of his family. He discusses these issues with his friends, who proved to be great empaths.

“That was a point when I realised that anxiety had become a part of my life. It had become very uncomfortable for me to live like that.”

As the academic aspect was quite distant following the lockdown, it was time for Shreyansh to fix some deep-rooted emotional baggage. Through his college, Shreyansh got in touch with a counselor from YourDOST. In the beginning, Shreyansh was quite sceptical about the process, as many of us.

The counseling journey started with the questioning about his family and background in an initial few sessions. Eventually, the counselor moved on to the real problem of anxiety. By then, Shreyansh had opened his heart out. He was reeling into the idea of counseling with faith to progress.

Shreyansh took the opportunity to solve his internal issues with this lockdown.

“She suggested a few breathing exercises to me. I was also asked to write down all my feelings whenever I had emotional rushes.”

When Shreyansh had compulsive thoughts, he was advised to halt the same by allocating some hours at night to think on them. Shreyansh was left with a feeling of lightness whenever he went through the counseling sessions. The change in Shreyansh’s appetite not only made him look healthier, but he also felt better internally. Shreyansh was performing better and his journey to a more peaceful mental state was phenomenally fulfilled by the counseling process.

“I am very grateful to my counselor as I never imagined that such unique techniques existed which helped me a lot. She would talk to me like we were a team.”

Shreyansh took the opportunity to solve his internal issues with this lockdown. He stands as an example to many out there who still are scared to express their emotions. Shreyansh rates his overall improvement through counseling with a 4.5 out of 5. He finally didn’t have to pretend any different from his mental state and successfully tread the counseling path leading to a more liberated and peaceful state . Did you?

Shreyansh’s Warrior Tips:
